Wainwright’s Bowland Sketchbook

Join Nick Burton, author of ‘Wainwright’s Way’ in a rediscovery of Alfred Wainwright’s illustrations of the Forest of Bowland. The walk will focus on revisiting the scenes around Dunsop Bridge and the Dunsop Valley which AW visited to produce drawings for his 1980 ‘A Bowland Sletchbook’. We will also look at AW’s early excursions to Bowland when he worked for Blackburn Corporation in the 1930’s and visit the church built by the winnings of a Derby winning racehorse. This is an ideal walk for Wainwright fans and anyone who has not yet discovered the charms of this part of the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
