Tea in the Field

Established by the Nelson Independent Labour Party, the Clarion House is the last surviving socialist tea room in a network of club houses that attracted Victorian and Edwardian ramblers and cyclists to the good company of fresh air of the great outdoors. This walk makes use of the field paths that link the town of Barrowford with the Clarion House at Roughlee, following a section of the Pendle Way over Noggarth Ridge. This walk will also look at the two earlier Nelson ILP Clarion Houses nearby. The Clarion House is currently closed due to Covid-19 but the lovely garden is open for a cup of tea in the field and a view to Blacko Tower. Bring a donation for a brew!
