This walk follows the River Ribble from Grindleton to West Bradford, along a stretch of the River Ribble where otters have been sighted. We then head uphill through pastures to view Heys Farm, the former workers’ guesthouse where Mahatma Gandhi stayed the weekend on his 1931 visit to Lancashire and the West Riding in 1931. We will look at why Gandhi was visiting the area and why he stayed at the farm on the invitation of Darwen mill owner, Percy Davies. There are good views of Pendle Hill throughout the walk. There are numerous stiles and some uphill gradients.
